Masker
Soft noise makes ringing in the ears less noticeable and helps you fall asleep. The sound is synthesized right in your browser, nothing is downloaded.
Set the volume just below your ringing, so you can still hear it through the noise. For sleep, the level of a quiet conversation is enough.

Cut out my tone
ExperimentA band around the pitch of your ringing is removed from the noise. The idea is to let overexcited parts of the hearing system rest. In small studies the ringing got quieter; others found no effect. This is an experiment, not a treatment.
Find the pitch of your ringing
You need it for the experimental mode. It’s best to search in silence, when the ringing is easy to hear. The masker pauses while you do.
- Turn the tone on at a low volume.
- Move the scale until the tone sounds like your ringing. If your ringing hisses rather than whines, switch to hiss.
- Check the octave: listen to the tone an octave higher and lower. Being off by an octave is very common.
- Press “Save tone”. It’s stored in this browser.
How to use it
-
Quieter than the ringing
The noise shouldn’t drown the ringing out completely. When you can hear the ringing but it doesn’t grab your attention, it’s easier for the brain to stop noticing it.
-
For sleep
Set the timer and put your phone away from your head. A speaker is better than headphones: it’s easy to fall asleep with headphones turned up too loud.
-
Not just at night
Quiet background sound helps during the day too, in a quiet office or while reading. The less often you sit with the ringing in complete silence, the less it bothers you.

When to see a doctor
If the ringing is new, one-sided, pulsing, or comes with hearing loss or dizziness, see an ENT doctor first.
